ENGEN

The Framework of the Future

WHAT IS ENGEN?

EnGen is the simulation framework in which software applications can be built upon:

  • EnGen uses plugins (i.e., features and models) to integrate capabilities into cohesive modeling and simulation experience.
  • EnGen’s client-server architecture allows for distributed processing.
  • EnGen is also available as a stand-alone framework with a robust software development kit (SDK), putting the power of customization in the users’ hands.
  • EnGen is the simulation framework behind all simulation, modeling, and capabilities for PLEXSYS’ SimWorks and ASCOT 7 environment generation products.

IS YOUR TEAM READY?

ENGEN – THE FRAMEWORK OF THE FUTURE

  • EnGen is a simulation framework fully capable of supporting an entire software ecosystem. EnGen is the simulation framework behind all simulation, modeling, and capabilities for PLEXSYS’ SimWorks and ASCOT 7 environment generation products.
  • EnGen can be conceptually compared to the engine of a car, where the driver does not physically interact, but yet, it powers the car down the road. Similarly, the user experience can be compared to the car’s steering wheel, foot pedals, and other controls that allow the driver to operate the car.

PLUGINS AND FEATURES

  • EnGen uses plugins (i.e., features and models) to integrate capabilities into cohesive modeling and simulation experience.
  • Using the car metaphor again, these plugins are comparable to the variety of options available on a new car. Using EnGen, it is now possible to provide customizable features and capabilities in the form of tailored alternatives for the optimal solution and performance.
  • All simulations need movement modeling, whether modeling aircraft or weapons flight, maneuvering land/maritime entities, or orbiting satellites. Like tires on a car, movement modeling comes standard to everyone; but other features, similar to optional sunroofs, aren’t for everyone. For example, not everyone needs to simulate electronic countermeasures, but it’s an option for the user if required.

DISTRIBUTED PROCESSING

  • EnGen provides a client-server architecture and allows for distributed processing. EnGen was designed so users can distribute processing across all available network computers and servers. Essentially, this allows all network computers and servers to function as an integrated system, adding nearly limitless processing power to the simulation. This software enabled scalability gives users the ability to run the system on a laptop for smaller simulations or run the system on a series of high-end, rack-mounted servers, powering extensive complex simulations.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT KIT (SDK)

  • EnGen is also available as a stand-alone framework that comes with a robust software development kit (SDK), putting the power of customization in the users’ hands.
  • Existing Government and industry plugin-based models can be integrated into the EnGen framework using the EnGen SDK.

POWERS SIMWORKS AND ASCOT 7

  • EnGen is the simulation framework behind all simulation, modeling, and capabilities for PLEXSYS’ SimWorks and ASCOT 7 environment generation products.
  • SimWorks, which is commercially available.
  • ASCOT 7, which supports military-specific simulation capabilities.
  • All military-specific simulation capabilities are housed in plugins.
  • This enables PLEXSYS to offer both commercial and military products, with a common EnGen framework.
